We need a Revival

“If you will fear the Lord and serve him and obey his voice and not rebel against the commandment of the Lord, and if both you and the king who reigns over you will follow the Lord your God, it will be well. But if you will not obey the voice of the Lord, but rebel against the commandment of the Lord, then the hand of the Lord will be against you and your king” (1 Samuel 12:14-15 ESV)

Rebellion against the Lord will have a catastrophic result for one outside of Christ. We will sin at some point. There is no such thing as sinless perfection. This is the most horrid thing about our sin; it is a rejection of the one who saved us.

God is holy and just; He is separated in righteousness so far above us, and knows we are sinful, but will not tolerate sin. Psalm 5:5 says it most appropriately: “The boastful shall not stand before your eyes; you hate all evildoers.” God not only hates sin but also those who do evil, those who sin.

Humanity has refused to recognize that we are made in God’s image. God has dominion over us as we have dominion over creation. God created us to have a mirrored existence in his work in creation: You work six days, and on the seventh, you rest. This is us; this is what he created us to do, like a father teaches his child. His benevolence is what allows us to exist. Yet, humanists refuse to believe there is a God. In this refusal, the recognition of God’s ownership over all people and all things disappears.

The failure of this recognition and the attitude of secular humanists is the reason over a million babies were murdered in abortion last year. This is more than the population of Fiji. You could eradicate the entire population of Fiji, and you still would not have killed as many babies as the United States did last year. My choice, my body, and so on go the arguments, but your bodies are not yours. They are Gods. Our children are God’s; He controls these things, not humans. You have difficulty conceiving and have in vitro fertilization (IVF). It is God who allows medicine to achieve conception, not a doctor. It is not only the politicians who want to stop abortion it is God. This will not happen because humans have lost their humanity.

Since the age of enlightenment, humans have become about humans, not God; in the throes of secular humanism, humans have lost being humans. No longer is the purpose divine as God intended. Babies are found in dumpsters; no human could do that. Humans have been demeaned, and in doing so, society has turned to sin, losing the dignity of humanity.

Now people talk about legalizing human euthanasia. Humans want to control the beginning of life and the end of life, refusing to acknowledge that God controls everything. How has this happened, and why is it so frightening? It is because the value of human life is diminished, no longer shining it is tarnished, and that is not what God intended.

All this can be changed. It is changed by the Gospel of Christ. It is changed by a revival. God can change anyone He chooses. Pray for revival. Jonah, as reluctant as he was, started the revival in Nineveh, Peter at the Pentecost, and John and Charles Wesley in the “great awakening.” We saw a revival last year in the colleges of the south.  Brothers and Sisters, revival is possible; people are hungry, feed them. Feed them the Word of God, and pray for revival.

Pray that humans will recognize they are God’s creation once more. God’s hand will still be against those who are rebellious, so let us bring the masses to God for salvation.

Grace and Peace!
