The Right and Wrong

“For it is impossible, in the case of those who have once been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, and have shared in the Holy Spirit, and have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the age to come, and then have fallen away, to restore them again to repentance, since they are crucifying once again the Son of God to their own harm and holding him up to contempt.” (Hebrews 6:4-6 ESV)

The rejection of God by one saved not only jeopardizes the individual but also persecutes Jesus yet again. This rejection severs the connection between the believer and God, leading the believer to worship something else, be it sex, money, or any other lure that draws them away from God.

For the unbeliever, who has never known God, there is a profound loss. This loss extends to their sense of self, identity, and purpose. The volumes of books about finding oneself in bookstores only serve to highlight this. The answer to who we are lies in our connection to our Creator, as our Creator designed us with a purpose.

Those who reject God live in darkness, a darkness where the mercy and grace of God do not exist. Paul said, “For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened. Claiming to be wise, they became fools, and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man and birds and animals and creeping things.” (Romans 1:21-23 ESV). Look at the world around you; society places more care and worry on animals than on unborn babies. Society has become futile in its thinking; society has, as Alistair Begg put it, committed moral and intellectual suicide.

When a society gives truth up for a lie, God will give that society up to its immoral desires. Society's decisions are contrary to logic. The parents, at a recent school meeting, told the school board that it is a matter of biology; boys are boys, and girls are girls. The parents were told they were wrong. [1] Where is their logic in this response? There is none. Society has now decided what is right and what is wrong. In the view of society, God’s word is no longer inerrant and no longer matters.

There is a clear link between idolatry and moral depravity. We must understand this connection. When a society stops worshiping God, it becomes idolatrous and immoral. I often hear people say God will judge us for the sins of our world. My response is that God has already judged us because we see sins that are an abomination before God.

Every moral aspect of life today has been deconstructed and reconstructed by the individual's desire and endorsed at all political governing body levels. Society is not just on the brink but is inevitably heading towards collapse.

J.D. Unwin studied 86 societies and made the connection that when premarital chastity and post-marital monogamy were no longer practiced, society no longer grew and eventually collapsed.[2] Kirk Durston mentioned that “Unwin found that when strict prenuptial chastity was abandoned, absolute monogamy, deism, and rational thinking disappeared within three generations of the change in sexual freedom.” [3] Where are we here in 2024?

The glory of God has been exchanged for unnatural desires, unnatural thinking, and self-idolatry. What is self-idolatry? I will make my own choices; I will decide what is moral, and I will determine what is right and what is wrong. I worship myself because I am my own God; I make the rules. Self-idolatry is Self-worship.

The one who knows of God and accepts Christ as their Savior can repent and return to a walk with Christ despite their rejection. We cannot lose our salvation; we can repent. God’s elect will still come to Christ at some point. But the one who has never known the Lord is condemned. There is no other option but to turn to the Lord, and they will refuse. It has been said that the gate to hell is locked from the inside, and if offered a chance for salvation, the condemned would still refuse. Despite the pain, suffering, isolation, and fire, they would refuse to turn to Christ. That is hatred, and the majority of society today hates God because God tells them their actions are sinful.

If you do not know Christ, consider the consequences of self-indulgence, self-idolatry, and self-worship—the time to turn and accept Christ as your Savior is now. The mercy and grace of Christ will fulfill all desires and needs. A love beyond your understanding will be given to you by your creator. Tomorrow may not come; come to Christ now.

Grace and Peace.
