Give it and go

11 So it was annulled on that day, and the sheep traders, who were watching me, knew that it was the word of the LORD. 12 Then I said to them, “If it seems good to you, give me my wages, but if not, keep them.” And they weighed out as my wages thirty pieces of silver. 13 Then the LORD said to me, “Throw it to the potter”—the lordly price at which I was priced by them. So, I took the thirty pieces of silver and threw them into the house of the LORD, to the potter.” (Zechariah 11:11-13 ESV)

This scripture prophesies Judas's betrayal of Jesus. Stunningly, the money Judas took and threw back at the Pharisees was used by the Potter's Field, as the silver was considered blood money and could not be kept. Many examples of scripture reveal the sovereignty of God.

Contemplate the awe-inspiring sovereignty of God, the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. God knew the ending before the beginning; this is a testament to His unfathomable sovereignty.

If someone who is yet to know Christ stumbles upon this website, what do you think the implications of this action are for that person? We may not comprehend it fully, but God does.

Consider the divine orchestration in the circumstances that led to the reader's exposure to the gospel. It was not mere chance that they found the name curious and ended up reading the posts. They have now been exposed to the gospel, a seed that God will nurture. We may never know the outcome, but God does, and this was no accident; it was His sovereign plan at work.

A ministry can be somewhat frustrating. We have visitors worldwide who never reach out to us but have received the gospel in some fashion. We pray that that exposure to the gospel will lead them to salvation. As ministers, we are challenged to give the word and let it go.

Trust in God's work, even when it seems invisible. Sometimes, we are blessed to witness someone accepting Christ as their savior. But even when we do not, we must trust that God is at work.

If you share the gospel with others, leave the rest to God. Do not be disheartened if the person does not respond immediately, and do not doubt your efforts. Speak the truth of the Gospel, salvation through faith, and its urgency. If God enables the person to respond, you have been blessed to see His work. If not, you have planted a seed that others will water, and when it blooms, God will take over.

Jesus Christ, in the incarnation, came here as 100% human and 100% God. Jesus lived the sinless life we could never live. He became a curse, taking on our sins and bearing them on the cross, sacrificing His life so that our sins could be forgiven. Jesus took the penalties, the wrath of God against our sin, and paid in His blood so that we could be rejoined to God. Buried for three days, he rose on the third day in a heavenly body, defeating sin and death for all who believe and have faith in him.

God’s plan can never be thwarted; God is sovereign. His will be done.

Grace and Peace!
