A Prayer for Patience

Writer: J. Richard BaranJ. Richard Baran

Most Holy Father,

Your word states that the revelation awaits an appointed time; it speaks of the end and will not prove false. If it seems slow, wait for it; it will surely come; it will not delay. All of the prophets have spoken Your words that have come to pass, and I have faith that You are sovereign and what You have promised will be fulfilled. Lord, give me the strength to wait upon Your promises, as I eagerly anticipate their fulfillment.

Father God, earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you; my flesh faints for you as I look for the second coming of my Savior. Help me to stay patient when the end goal seems so far out of reach.

Just as I must wait for Your revelation, I pray that I learn to wait patiently with understanding for all things to come to pass in my life. Not to rush in or out of where You have placed me, but to taste and savor each plate you have placed before me, both the bitter and the sweet. For the bitterness reminds me of my trials and bondage to sin, while the sweetness reminds me that the precious blood of Christ has saved me and provided eternal love and life through His finished work. May this patience bring me reassurance and calm in the face of uncertainty.

Father God, I am blessed by your grace and spared by your mercy. I have found everything in you that satisfies my soul and body. It is in Your Son that I have died, and so in Him, I live again, for without Him I am nothing.

In the precious name of Christ Jesus, we pray, Amen.
