WHJD

“When he had washed their feet and put on his outer garments and resumed his place, he said to them, “Do you understand what I have done to you? 13 You call me Teacher and Lord, and you are right, for so I am. 14 If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another's feet. 15 For I have given you an example, that you also should do just as I have done to you. 16 Truly, truly, I say to you, a servant is not greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him.” (John 13:12-16 ESV)

Jesus set an example for the apostles on the importance of servitude. They believed in Christ and professed their faith in Him as the Son of God. We understand that our service does not buy our salvation. Our service is the fruit of our salvation. Our love for God is why we do our work.

This message is backward in many churches, especially those that preach a prosperity Gospel. What is preached is that the more you do the more God will bless you. Like the Catholics, you must do your part to achieve salvation. Jesus did not come here to say, “You help me, and you can be saved”. That is not what He did, nor should the lie ever reach anyone's ears. That mentality erases the gospel. There is no good news if we must earn our salvation because we could never do it. If I could be righteous for one nanosecond it would not save me. Paul told us, “None are good.”

For a long time, the saying has been, “What would Jesus do” (WWJD), Now do it, That’s fine but what we should be saying is “What has Jesus done” (WHJD), Now, spread that message. Christ accomplished what we could never accomplish in one million years in one fell stroke, the salvation of humankind.

Go tell it on the mountains, over the hills, and everywhere. Christ is King, and the sin-killing power of faith in Christ is available to all who believe.

Grace and Peace!
